Hi! We are Siân Owen and Thomas Bartlett. We are both practicing microbiologists who moved to New York's Capital Region from Boston in 2024 to establish research laboratories at the New York State Department of Health. Siân (pronounced similar to Sean) is originally from southern England, while Thomas grew up just outside Philadelphia. We live on the property year-round—the left side of Grey Gables is our home, and the right side is yours!

We share Grey Gables with our friendly indoor cat, Pazuzu, along with a flock of backyard chickens and a garden that's always a work in progress. We love welcoming guests and are happy to offer recommendations for exploring the Hudson Valley and Capital Region or simply help you settle in and enjoy a relaxing stay.

A Note to Returning Guests

If you've stayed at Grey Gables before, welcome back! We recently became the new owners of Grey Gables after Kim & Mike relocated south to be closer to family (and enjoy a warmer climate!).

We know what wonderful hosts Kim & Mike were, and we're grateful for all their help in making the transition a smooth one. We've kept almost everything just as guests have come to know and love it, and we're committed to continuing their tradition of exceptional hospitality while adding a few touches of our own over time.

If you have any questions before or during your stay, please don't hesitate to call, text, or email—we'll respond as promptly as we can.

And one more thing... if our hens are laying, feel free to ask about fresh local eggs!
